Area shopper's options for Christmas shopping have been expanded as Jolly Farmer Products in Northampton plans to have a one-day open house on Sunday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Shoppers will find plenty of gift and decorative options in the form of plants, crafts, hardwoods and food. Visitors will also have a chance to tour the greenhouse facility.
Among the plants and greenery will be poinsettias, cyclamen and other indoor plants. Jolly Farmers will also be offering wreaths, deco balls and custom-designed holiday centrepieces created while the buyer watches.
The sale will include Valley Mission Crafts, created as part of a livelihood project for Filipino families. The selection will include paper vases, baskets, carvings, hamper sets, wicker floor vases and more.
Among the local crafts will be framed watercolour prints by Rachel Ann MacDonald, scented candles, stuffed animals, floral arrangements, aprons, cards, paintings, quilts and other items.
Shoppers can choose from classic cutting boards and chopping blocks crafted from beautiful North American hardwood. Available gift packs will combine the cutting boards with homemade fudge.
Other farm food items include produces of beef, chicken, and pork, along with frozen dessert pies, baked goods, sausage links, meat pies, cheeses, quiche and fudge.
While visiting Jolly Farmers, shoppers can enjoy lunch and snacks, including meats right from the grill and salads, doughnuts and coffee.
The open house will include tours of the greenhouses which will have holiday colours on display, plus a special tour of the barn. Animals, including cows, pigs, sheep and chickens will be in for the winter.
The sale will include used and surplus equipment.
Jolly Farmer Products spokesperson Annie Best said the open house has proved popular in the past.
"Attendance has been excellent and folks seem to enjoy the event and also enjoy visiting with friends and neighbours," Best noted. "Feedback we've received is very positive."
