A Woodstock Slammer has withdrawn his complaint to police with regards to a Sept. 26 brawl at the end of a contest with the Summerside Western Capitals.

The complainant claimed to have been struck in the head with a hockey stick by a Summerside player behind the benches after the final buzzer.

This incident was alleged to have occurred at the same time the teams were involved in an on-ice brawl which resulted in seven two-game suspensions, one four-game suspension and one five-game suspension.

"The investigation was not totally finished," said Woodstock Police Cpl. Carter Stone. "(The complainant) came in and spoke with us and his decision was he did not want to proceed any further."

With no complainant in this situation, Cpl. Stone said the file was concluded.

"If this had been domestic violence he wouldn't have had a choice to withdraw his complaint," Cpl. Stone said. "In those cases we proceed with or without the victim.

"But given the circumstances in this particular case, the file is concluded."
