Thank you God for animals
Published Friday November 21st, 2008

The Sunday school children of St. Mark's United Church in Canterbury will be thanking God for animals during a special service this Sunday, Nov. 23.
At the children's request, said Rev. Bev Brazier, the service, which will begin at 9:30 a.m., will focus on animals.
"There will be a chance for people to bring their pets to church – otherwise we'll have a chance to talk about animals that have been a blessing to us," she explained
Rev. Brazier said the special service, run primarily by the children, will include songs and readings underlining how God created this world and is in covenant with the whole earth; not just some humans, not just humans, but all creation.
"It's going to be fun," she said. "People are asked to bring something for the animal shelter – money, pet food, blankets, whatever – as an extra offering if they wish.
Rev Brazier said such services are extra special because the community's children are so directly involved.
"I love it when the kids themselves are the instigators, and the motivation behind a service – very very cool," she said.
