On Thursday, Sgt. Eric Rousselle told Brunswick News that police received a report about the treats on the afternoon of April 30. He could not comment on whether the threats were made against the school or specific students.

“They did not meet the criteria for a Criminal Code threat,” he said.

On the afternoon of May 1, parents were sent an email from Anglophone East School District superintendent Randolph MacLEAN saying the school was working with police, who had been on site that day.

The email says the activity on social media took place in a group chat involving some of the school’s students.

Brunswick News contacted the district for comment and was directed to the RCMP.

Rousselle said there is no public safety risk and the threats did not meet the criteria for an alert-ready message.

“At this time it’s still an open investigation,” he said.
