Spelling out ‘For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge’

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,
Married couples do not f--k.
A few years ago my favourite pastor gave a sermon on foul language speakers and how they are minus a few intelligence genes.
I checked it out then, but didn't table this fact. The 1611 King James Apocrypha Bible has it and no concordance exists for it.
Also in a history book I saw an old clapboard picture of olden time, used in England. It was attached to a prison for whores, but not for men caught in the act.
What Justice?
Anyway the words on that sign were "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge."
Now my point is this. People who are bent of shape because they cannot use the capital letters of that prison identification are a bit ignorant. In fact, like the preacher said, they don't converse on weightier subjects ever.
They don't read enough or even contemplate.
Just consider – if the board had said "For Unlawful Carnal Copulation," would they use the FUCC letters. How would it sound?
Germans say "fick". Why? None can say. It's not a common swear word.
Remember, married couples don not f--k or fick.

Somerville
