AA Huskies drop SVHS 7-3 at home in ice play

The hometown Hartland High School Huskies used its offensive prowess to skate to a well-deserved 7-3 victory over the Southern Victoria High School Vikings of Perth-Andover in Western Conference AA Boys High School Hockey League play on Monday night at the Hartland Community Arena.
A near-capacity crowd at the Big Freeze was on hand for the highly-spirited match, which was HHS' third win in four starts on its 2008-09 regular season.
The contest was penalty-filled, as both teams were called for numerous infractions from the first whistle.
The squads were tied 1-1 after one before the hometowners notched three in the second frame to lead 4-2 after 40.
Jonathan Cheney led the charge for the winners with two goals, with Lucas McSheffery and Ryan Paul notching a goal and two helpers apiece.
Jared Clark and Jacob Clark each had a goal and an assist, with a single from Sydney Hachey.
Caleb McQuade, Cole Weeks, Shane Walton and Richard Stockford added solo helpers for the winners.
David Buckingham had the win in the Husky cage.
Rick Williams led the charge for SVHS with a trio.
Hartland will be back in action tonight (Friday, Nov. 28) in a return match against SVHS, set for 7 p.m.
They are back at home Monday, Dec. 1 in a 7 p.m. confrontation against St. Leonard at the HCA.
